If you have an old wore-out X52, you can switch the weights into the X52 Pro and enjoy the heft of the former. The pillars are molded into the X52 Pro base also.like they deceided to cut costs after the mold was made. They are screwed to plastic pillars on the base (you'll see them if disassemble an X52 throttle). Then reattach the lower base, and reinstall the screws. Now enjoy the buttery-smooth-stop-to-stop throttle. And, BTW, if you wondered why the X52 Pro throttle lacks the heft of the X52.The X52 throttle has 4 huge steel weights in it! Otherwise the construction is the same. It's rectangular and fits in a rectangular channel with springs pushing it up.so it rubs the throttle axle, which has two bumps (circled, one for each detent).Just pull the little detent notch "bumper" out. Then the base comes apart easily with the base as a separate piece of plastic, and all the electronics and wires attached to the upper half of the base.On the pic of the base, the little part (I shaded blue) is the detent notch. So all they do is interfere with smooth operation of the throttle. So I got rid of them, and it's really easy. The attached pics show the process (X52 Pro version, X52 is the same though).First, you remove the 8 recessed screws holding on the lower half of the throttle base. And, I've never had a flight simulation program that would engage afterburner using the upper detent either. Silicone grease is recommended whatever you do, do NOT use a petroleum based product for it will attack the plastic parts. Lots of threads exist on this problem (check the saitek forum). It would be cool if we could have the lower detent engage reversers or something, but we can't. After a couple of weeks of use, my brand new X52 Pro developed stiction which made it impossible to do any slight, precise movements. MSFS202 does recognize the throttle with reverse axis on axis Z. Ailerons, elevator, rudder all register correctly - the throttle however doesnt move the in/out numbers at all. If I go into axes assignments/joystick calibration when I move the throttle back and forth the in/out numbers never change.

If tempted to try it, fly a few training missions first! - If you boost into a station and destroy your ship don't blame me!Ħ.If you're like me, you hate the detents on the otherwise fine Saitek X52 / X52 Pro. I purchased the software to work with MSFS 2020. The file might not work but as long as you back up your original file, you will be able to return to your own settings easilyĥ. I have a UK keyboard (specified at the top of the bindings file) - if you have a different keyboard layout, you probably need to change thisĤ. If reverse doesn't work you still have clutch mode enabled (the default setting)ģ. LED never changes color, only its brightness is controlled by the global brightness.

I have the 'i' button on the throttle (in the Windows Game Controller Properties applet MFD panel - clutch unticked) set as forward / reverse. LED FIRE can be switched on and off, but changes color only, when safe switch is up (red) or down (green) 1. Just modified the detent at the top of throttle by trimming away at the tab thats in there. With the throttle there wasn't much to do as there was a fair amount of grease there already. Joy_6 is the pinkie button which I use like a shift key - Essentially (with some exceptions), this doubles the number of buttons you can useĢ. Plugged it in while opened and move the stick around and it seemed to have done the trick. Start ED and then set the Controls to 'Custom'ġ. To do this, in Windows File Explorer navigate to this path:Ĭ:\Users\\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindingsīackup or rename your own 'Custom.3.0.binds' file, then save the attachment to the above path and rename it to Custom.3.0.binds.
You can view the file in a text editor for some ideas or actually try it out by replacing your bindings file with the attached one (please see notes below before doing this!). As alibooba says, setting your own controls would be wise, nevertheless I have attached my own x52-Pro bindings file which you could tryout and use as a starting point if you want.
